RV Technical Institute Continues Its Focus On Service Technician Recruitment
Earlier this week, the RV Technical Institute attended the 2024 American School Counselor Association’s Annual Conference alongside Blue Compass RV. The event took place this year in Kansas City, MO, from Saturday, July 13th through Tuesday, July 16th. 4,700 counselors were in attendance.
"At Blue Compass RV, we are committed to investing in technician training and providing great careers for techs,” says Jon Ferrando, CEO and President of Blue Compass RV. “That's why we are excited to once again partner with the RV Technical Institute onsite in Kansas City at the American School Counselor Association’s Annual Conference where we can connect with thousands of school counselors from across the country. This is an incredible opportunity to get our message out to the next generation of RV technicians, show them the tremendous opportunities that await them in the RV industry, and build strong partnerships with school counselors and their schools across the country."
The RV Technical Institute attends this event each year to connect with counselors and administrators to educate them on its certified training program. The Institute encourages the counselors to share information on the training program with high school students who are interested in the skilled trades and/or with education decisionmakers eager to implement the Institute’s curriculum into the high school.
Likewise, Blue Compass RV partnered with the Institute during the event by bringing a full-size unit to display in the exhibit hall. This increases opportunities for the Institute to speak with interested counselors and share information on what the RV technician career offers interested students. This is the second time that Blue Compass RV has joined forces with the Institute and brought a unit to showcase at the conference.
“Attending this annual event is an excellent way for the RV Technical Institute to speak with high school counselors and school administrators and encourage them to share information on the RV technician career path with their high school students,” says Justin Rickett, the Institute’s Senior Manager of Recruitment. “Many of them may be interested in the skilled trades or looking for an alternative to a four-year college. Implementing this program in high schools gives these students an option to become a Level 1 technician by the time they graduate. Attending events like these is a great way to share this information with counselors who may be unaware this is an option. We would also like to thank Blue Compass RV for once again partnering with us for this event and helping us spread the word about the RV technician career path.”
“We were excited to attend another American School Counselor Association conference with Blue Compass RV,” adds Halle Edmister, the Institute’s Recruitment and Dealer Account Specialist. “The unit they brought attracted attendees’ attention to our training program and everything it has to offer interested high school students. As a result, Justin and I shared a significant amount of information on the curriculum with the counselors. Once they take it back to their schools, this could potentially result in increasing the number of trained RV service technicians. We look forward to returning next year!”
The American School Counselor Association supports school counselors' efforts to help students focus on academic, career, and social/emotional development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society. The annual conference is attended by counselors and school administrators from across the country.
