RV Technical Institute Highlights Dealer-On Site Training Initiative
Although the year is winding down, the RV Technical Institute is revving up its Dealer On-Site Training initiative in 2025.
During Dealer On-Site Training, the Institute sends one of its four instructors to a qualifying dealership location that has expressed interest (rather than the dealership sending its technicians to the Institute’s facility). Please note that Dealer On-Site Training is only available for dealerships who are registered with the Institute as a Location Subscriber or Authorized Learning Partner+.
The Institute’s weeklong in-person Level 1 course and the 12-week hybrid Level 2 course can be taught through the Dealer On-Site Training method. Both courses would proceed as normal at the dealership’s location.
In Level 1 training, current and future RV techs will learn about and demonstrate knowledge of Propane, Electrical, Plumbing, Appliances, Body, Generator and Chassis systems. A student who successfully completes the training will have a proven skill set to prepare an RV for customer delivery by verifying the operation of all components.
Likewise, in Level 2 training, RV technicians develop theoretical knowledge of all the systems and components within an RV. Dealer On-Site Training’s hybrid Level 2 would consist of the usual 11-week online portion, with the Institute instructor arriving at the dealership for hands-on training the final week.
Please note that, in the case of Dealer On-Site Training, the hands-on portions of Level 1 and Level 2 could need adjustments depending on the dealership’s available materials.
Additionally, Dealer On-Site Training may be more cost-effective for dealerships, as their techs would stay on-site rather than travel to the Institute’s location in Elkhart, IN.
